Are you a whiz on the sewing machine? Can you fashion a cereal box into a top hat? Then the Marvellous Costume Make may be for you…
To celebrate The Dahlicious Dress Up Day 2014, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity teamed up with Claudia Winkleman to launch a video competition.
Families across the UK are invited to get their creative juices flowing over the summer. We want you to locate your paint, cut up those cereal boxes and sprinkle that glitter to create some truly splendiferous Roald Dahl costumes and capture it all on video. This will allow us to create a smorgasbord of dressing up videos with hundreds of tips and ideas for all the parents out there. No longer will inventing costumes be an arduous task but rather a fun filled activity for the whole family to enjoy and what’s more, there are prizes at the end! Here’s Claudia to tell you more:
Parents are invited to submit a short instructional video showing how to make a Roald Dahl costume. Videos can be uploaded to YouTube, Instagram or Vine and submitted to the competition via the Charity’s Facebook page or on Twitter using the hashtag #marvellouscostume.
Winning videos in the categories ‘Best Costume', ‘Most Creative Video’ and, in celebration of 50 years of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, ‘Most Wonkalicious Creation’ will win the Whipple-Scrumptious prize of a family ticket to the brand new musical of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and a bundle of Roald Dahl goodies.
So, roll up your sleeves, dig out your paint, and check out our dressing up tips for a bit of inspiration. The competition closes on Thursday 25th September and winners will be announced on Friday 26th September - The Dahlicious Dress Up Day.
