Don’t be alarmed when schools are overrun with Oompa-Loompas and Willy Wonkas in the biggest ever Roald Dahl dressing up day for charity.
In fact, why don’t you join them? It’s really easy to register, especially if you’re lucky enough to already be a teacher as you can head straight to The Dahlicious Dress Up Day website page. Don’t worry if you’re not, we have it on good authority that there are lots of teachers waiting to be found and are eager to join in the dressing up!
So what is The Dahlicious Dress Up Day? That’s the day when Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity invites all of the children in the UK to go school dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character. This year it’s taking place on Friday 26th September and all the children need to do is take £1 into school and they will be helping seriously ill children. It’s as simple as that.
But don’t take our word for it. Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity's ambassador Claudia Winkleman wants to tell you why you should join in. "Children love dressing up - it is a great way to boost their self-confidence and encourage creative play by stepping into the shoes of their favourite Roald Dahl character for the magical day. As a mum I am delighted to be supporting The Dahlicious Dress Up Day which makes a difference to so many children and families whose lives have taken a very different path to our own."
Claudia is not the only parent to love the event, Karin, whose children took part last year told us, “My children adore dressing up for the Dahlicious Dress Up Day. They get to be creative with their costumes, and re-read their favourite Roald Dahl stories in the run up to the day. They have a great time seeing everyone, even the teachers, dressed up at school, and they love to know that the money they donate is helping other children.”
And that’s not all, if you can find a teacher to register your school they will be in with the chance to be entered into a prize draw to win Roald Dahl goodies!
