Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity offers exciting new research opportunities for UK specialist children's nurses with sparky ideas
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has launched its Marvellous Nurse Inventing Room today.
This new programme helps to celebrate 50 Whipple-Scrumptious years of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and is inspired by Willy Wonka’s Inventing Room, a place where amazing new creations are dreamed up and turned into reality.
This is a new opportunity for specialist children’s nurses across the UK to help improve the quality of care for children with serious long term conditions by undertaking their own practical research.
The charity has been creating new Roald Dahl specialist children’s nurse posts around the UK for more than twenty years. The Marvellous Nurse Inventing Room will go one step further and help nurses to act upon their ideas by helping them to lead on their own innovative and practical research.
The charity is working in partnership with The Burdett Trust for Nursing to provide twelve specialist children's nurses with a grant of £15,000 each. They will be able to try out an idea, put it into practice,
and to communicate the learning far and wide. The Marvellous Nurse Inventing Room will focus upon helping children living with rare or undiagnosed illnesses to stay emotionally strong.
