Find out about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's 50th birthday takeover at Camp Bestival
As part of this year's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 50th anniversary celebrations, Camp Bestival will be throwing a whipple-scrumptious birthday party with lots of delicious treats for children and adults alike...
From Thursday 31st July to Sunday 3rd August 2014, Camp Bestival - the UK's top family festival which takes place at Lulworth Castle, Dorset - will become the only UK festival to offer a series of special Charlie-themed events and activities, including:
Pop-Up Roald Dahl Museum
The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is based in Roald Dahl's hometown of Great Missenden - just down the road from where Roald wrote his famous stories. This year, though, Camp Bestival becomes home to a scrumdiddlyumptious pop-up exhibition which brings the inspirational fun of the Museum to festivalgoers. Visitors will be able to find out how Roald Dahl wrote, handle replicas of his quirky writing aids and have a go at interactive activities.
Charlie’s Bedtime Sessions
The Guardian Literary Institute will be hosting a series of truly delicious bedtime stories every night of the festival. Come along and hear the ENTIRE story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory read by special guest readers Jo Whiley, Howard Marks and Camp Bestival's own Rob da Bank. Bedtime reading has never been so much fun...
Willy Wonka’s amazing Chocolate Factory, with its incredible tasty creations, is an embodiment of creativity and imagination. Visitors to Camp Bestival will be able to explore their own creativity in a Charlie-themed Craftathon, with a whole host of fun activities.
Roald Dahl Storytelling Extravaganza
Lucy Mangan Goes Inside Charlie’s Chocolate Factory
Author Lucy Mangan - Guardian and Sytlist columnist and writer of a new book, Inside Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, which explores the story behind the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story - will be in conversation with the Roald Dahl Museum's Director Amelia Foster ahead of the September release of her book.
