Spirits were high in London yesterday when all the Roald Dahl nurses came together to mark the fiftieth nurse post.
Roald Dahl specialist children's nurses gathered from all over Great Britain and enjoyed a very special evening at West End musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, hosted by Warner Bros. UK.
This was a truly marvellous setting for 50 Roald Dahl nurses in the 50th year of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was made even more marvellous when the charity's nurses were joined by a special suprise guest at the theatre: charity patron and actress Julie Walters.
Julie said: “I have such huge respect for nurses, not least because I originally trained as one myself. I have been a patron of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity for twenty years so I’m absolutely thrilled to champion their Roald Dahl specialist children’s nurses. They are a real lifeline to thousands of children and their families around Great Britain.”
50th Roald Dahl nurse Liz Odeh brought along some of the children and young people she is caring for, including 15 year-old Sophia Vidal-Martin who had open heart surgery this summer.
During the day the nurses had gathered together at the Royal College for Nursing for a special Roald Dahl nurse conference filled with talks and workshops.
