The new musical production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory extends its run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until June 2016
The West End musical production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been delighting audiences in London's West End since June 2013, and celebrated its 700th whipple-scrumptious performance on Saturday 24th January. This week, the show announced that it is extending its run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until 4th June 2016 - when we will also be celebrating 100 years since Roald Dahl's birth...
The musical features an entirely new score written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. It also includes the song 'Pure Imagination,' taken from the 1971 film adaptation Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also recently broke the record for the highest weekly gross sales at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a third time, taking more than £1.1 million in the week commencing 29 December 2014. That week saw the 2,200 seat theatre – one of the largest in the West End - 100% full, for every single performance.
The new booking period for the show goes on sale on 9th February 2015. For more details, visit the show's official website.
The Official Cast Recording album is available on Sony Records, on CD and download.
