A marvellous fundraiser shaves her head to raise money for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity
Kiki Wan works as a HR Assistant at Explore Learning (providers of Maths and English tuition). They have been raising funds to support Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity since 2016. Kiki decided she wanted to give back to charity and thought this could easily be done. After deciding that running wasn't for her (34 members of staff took part in the Reading Half marathon in the Spring and raised over £4,000), she decided to brave the shave and cut her hair off!
Kiki has donated her hair once before to the Little Princess Trust. They provide real hair wigs for those affected by cancer treatment and other illnesses and this time Kiki thought why not go the whole hog and shave her entire head for charity.
Kiki is still donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, but is also fundraising for both Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity as well as Reuben’s Fight. This is a cause close to Kiki's heart, as a work colleague’s close friend’s son Reuben was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer in children. He has been receiving chemotherapy but the aim is to fundraise a total of £250k for life saving treatment overseas next year.
When Kiki was asked why she chose to support Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and the other charities, she said, "It was just such a perfect fit, I couldn’t be prouder supporting these three fantastic causes and hope to smash my target." Kiki's target was £1,000 and she has since beaten her target having raised over £1,350. We think Kiki's dedication to raising funds for all three charities is incredible. Well done Kiki!
