1-7 June marks Volunteers' Week. Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity says thank you to all the marvellous volunteers' who have helped provide the best possible healthcare for seriously ill children.
Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration that marks the difference volunteers make to every community across the country and takes place from 1-7 June. At Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, we want to celebrate all the marvellous volunteers that have helped provide the best possible healthcare for seriously ill children and their families in the UK.
In 1998, back when Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity was called The Roald Dahl Foundation, The Friends of The Roald Dahl Foundation was created. This entirely voluntary group provided the charity with their time and bundles of enthusiasm to help raise funds and awareness. From candle-lit concerts in Roald Dahl's hometown of Great Missenden, to an appearance on BBC Radio 4, the voluntary support from this wonderful group helped the charity grow further.
In more recent years, marvellous volunteers from a variety of organisations have supported the charity. These include fantastic volunteers like Caroline and Emily from Explore Learning, providers of Maths and English tuition. They recently supported Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity at the London Stationary Show. You can read more about this event on the Explore Learning blog.
Volunteers have also provided their valuable time and skills at events such as the Marvellous Superstar days for children, young people and families affected by rare diseases, hosted by Birmingham Children's Hospital. Volunteer Sandy thoroughly enjoyed her time at one of the last events. She said, "I love what the charity is doing and I'm proud to be part of it all."
We want to say a big thank you to all the volunteers that have given their time to help us in the last twenty-five years, you're kindness is truly marvellous and we couldn't continue our work without you!
