This February, we're celebrating the amazing work Roald Dahl nurses do to support children, young people and families affected by serious illness. So, we're asking anyone that has a Roald Dahl nurse and would like to share their marvellous story, to get in touch and help us reach more children who could benefit from the care of a Roald Dahl nurse.
February is the month of love. We're sharing the love for Roald Dahl nurses this February with our I Heart My Nurse campaign.
What's it all about?
Roald Dahl nurses provide the best possible healthcare to the seriously ill children, young people and families in their care. Working in communities across the UK, we estimate they support around 12,000 children and young people in every year, but more children need specialist nursing care.
The aim of the campaign is to ask the families our nurses support, to tell us about why having a Roald Dahl nurse so marvellous. By sharing these stories, we can not only celebrate the work of these amazing NHS Heroes, but also demonstrate the impact that their work is having on families affected by serious illness.
What does it involve?
We've given our marvellous nurses posters to put up in the most appropriate place within their local community, NHS Trust or Health Board. Families can then write a message on the poster and our charity staff can then share these marvellous stories, helping us to work to create more Roald Dahl Nurse posts, in order to support more children, young people and families in the UK who need our help.
How can I get involved?
It's easy to get involved and share the love for our I Heart My Nurse campaign, even if you are not under the care of a Roald Dahl nurse.
Follow these three easy steps:
1) Share on Social Media: Tell your friends, family and work colleagues about the campaign and spread the word! Find us on Facebook, Tweet about us on Twitter, check us out on YouTube or Follow us on LinkedIn.
2) Write your own message: Under the care of a Roald Dahl nurse or would you benefit from the care of a specialist children's nurse? Whether you download a poster (see the righthand side) or send us a scribble on some paper, let us know what difference a Roald Dahl nurse makes or could make to your family.
3). Become a marvellous friend and fundraiser: We think our Roald Dahl nurses provide the best possible healthcare to those in their care. However, more nurses are needed to support other families affected by serious illness. Help us fund more specialist nurses and make a donation today. Support us as your workplace's charity of the year, take part in a sporting challenge or why not organise your own event? Whatever you decide to do, you can help us continue to provide families affected by serious illness with the expert care they deserve.
