With help from the Roald Dahl Professional Development Package, Roald Dahl Epilepsy Nurse Specialists attend a PET course to further their specialist skills to provide expert care for families affected by epilepsy.
26 March marks Purple Day, where people from across the globe raise awareness for those affected by epilepsy. Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity is showing support for this marvellous awareness day. Some of our Roald Dahl Nurses recently took part in PET (Paediatric Epilepsy Training) courses to enhance their skills, enabling them to continue to provide expert care to families affected by epilepsy.
There are currently 32 Roald Dahl Epilepsy Specialist Nurses, caring for thousands of seriously ill children, young people and families affected by the condition. They work in communities in the UK, providing specialist support to help families manage their child's condition.
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity supports all Roald Dahl Nurses, including those who care for families affected by epilepsy through the Roald Dahl Professional Development Package. This helps them to develop their career and their service by funding training opportunities such as the PET course.
Roald Dahl Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Teresa who recently attend the course said, "It enabled me to build upon my current knowledge of epilepsy and lead me to be more of an expert in my field. I feel this is an essential part of my role as I am responsible for giving complex information to families and professionals alike, as well as teaching epilepsy awareness in nurseries, schools and colleges."
Roald Dahl Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Lynn who also attended the course said, "Working with children and young people with complex epilepsy can be incredibly challenging and I want to ensure that the information and guidance provided by me offers the utmost support for my families, as I know how much of a difference this makes to them. The paediatric epilepsy training courses offer an incredible learning opportunity and I was lucky enough to attend the two day, PET2 thanks to the charity."
The charity is also planning a marvellous workshop in June which will bring together Roald Dahl Epilepsy Nurse Specialists to identify how we can further support the nurses. Find out more about Roald Dahl Nurses.
