Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity and Barts Health NHS Trust are seeking a Roald Dahl Teenager and Young Adult (TYA) Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 8a) to provide support, advice and education for young people transitioning to adult services.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Roald Dahl Teenager and Young Adult (TYA) Clinical Nurse Specialist to work with front line staff to strengthen the care we provide for teenagers and young adults to improve their experience across Barts Health NHS Trust.
The role is based at Barts Health NHS Trust which provides paediatric services across 4 hospitals; Royal London, Newham, Whipps Cross and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals. In addition, the Trust transitions young people from other tertiary specialist providers to our adult services e.g. from Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Each year the Trust admits over 8,500 young people aged 11-18 to its acute and specialist services. Approximately 30% of teenagers admitted to the services have a chronic health condition, and many young people accessing our services have complex needs. Barts Health provides local, specialist and community care for children and young people with a range of chronic and complex conditions including delivering one of Europe’s largest Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia services (paediatric and adult).
The successful post holder will provide support, information and practical care for seriously ill teenagers and young adults and support the whole family too across Barts Health. They will work with front line staff to strengthen the care we provide for teenagers and young adults to improve their experience.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic Children’s Nurse or Adolescent Nurse and will be looking develop this new role and the service.
The successful applicant will also be able to access the Roald Dahl professional development package which will help them to develop their career and the service.
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has 52 Roald Dahl Specialist Children’s Nurses and 2 Paediatric Neuro-Rehab Occupational Therapists giving expert help to families across the UK. Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses play a critical and complex role. They work directly with the patient and family whilst providing a link between them and the consultant and the hospital.
