The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical wins a record-breaking seven Oliver Awards.

The show's four Matildas - Eleanor Worthington-Cox, Cleo Demetriou, Kerry Ingram and Sophia Kiely - jointly scooped the Best Actress in a Musical Award, with Eleanor becoming the youngest person ever to win an Olivier Award.

The show also won the coveted Best New Musical Award, which was picked up by co-writers Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly, while director Matthew Warchus took the Best Director prize.

The other awards were:

  • Best Actor for Bertie Carvel
  • Best Choreography for Peter Darling
  • Best Set Design for Rob Howell
  • Best Sound Design for Simon Baker
