The BFG
"Human beans is not really believing in giants, is they? Human beans is not thinking we exist."
One dark, silvery moonlit night, Sophie is snatched from her bed by a giant! Luckily it is the Big Friendly Giant, who is no ordinary bone-crunching giant, but instead prefers snozzcumbers and frobscottle to children. But there are other giants in Giant Country. And those giants have a plan to gallop far and wide to find some tasty human beans to eat. Can Sophie and the BFG stop them?
Meet the characters
The BFG
The BFG is the smallest of all the giants in Giant Country - and he is also the kindest. While the others rush off to gobble up 'human beans' every night, the BFG survives on a diet of snozzcumbers (disgusterous) and frobscottle (yummy), and speaks a language of his own creation - Gobblefunk.
Sophie
Sophie may be, as the BFG says, "only a tiny little girl," but she has a big adventure ahead of her. Sophie is thoughtful and kind, and loves to listen to the BFG's strange stories.
The Other Giants
The other giants that live in Giant Country are twice as tall as the BFG, and just as horrible as he is friendly. They spend their days sleeping, before roaming the world each night, looking for human beans to gobble up.
The Queen
When Sophie and the BFG plan to stop the other giants from gobbling up human beans, they decide to take it right to the top. The Queen is unfazed by meeting a giant, and even keeps her composure when he demonstrates his whizz-popping abilities…
